There are at least two reasons why Comé RICE Kitchen is a must-visit—even if you’re only in Copenhagen for a single day. First, the food is absolutely delicious. Second, by local standards, the prices are surprisingly reasonable for their Japanese-inspired dishes, each with a modern twist, served just steps from the city center.

Two things—cheap and delicious—that usually don’t go hand in hand, especially not in Copenhagen, somehow come together beautifully at Comé RICE Kitchen.

No wonder there’s almost always a line snaking out onto the sidewalk. But even that’s not a problem. Even when the line looks long, it rarely takes more than 5–10 minutes before you’re served and ready to enjoy the highlight of your day. Because whatever you order here, one thing’s guaranteed: it’s going to be good. At least for us, it always has been.

The Menu

At Comé RICE Kitchen, the menu is super simple—but like so often, that’s exactly what makes it great.

The star of the show is Japanese onigiri, typically offered in 10–12 different flavors. There are classic options (like tuna mayo or salmon mayo) and some more adventurous ones too. One of our favorites from the regular menu is the chili miso (watch out—it’s spicy!). Just yesterday, we tried a butter chicken curry from the daily specials. It might sound a little odd at first, but it turned out to be a perfect fusion of Indian and Japanese flavors.

Beyond that, there are a few other Japanese favorites to choose from. Sashimi, tempura, and a selection of salads—like daikon radish, eggplant, egg, and kimchi—just to name a few. Last time, the oyster tempura (yes, deep-fried oyster) was a standout surprise.

The Prices

This is Copenhagen—so no, you’re not going to have lunch for pocket change. But with one onigiri priced at 35 DKK, or two for just 65 DKK, it’s safe to say this place offers one of the best-value meals in the city. Especially when you consider the quality and uniqueness of the food—it’s not something you’ll find at this price point anywhere else nearby.

The Only Downside

There’s just one drawback to this place, and it might help explain the affordable prices: there’s really nowhere to eat on-site.

There are a few benches in front of the building, but they’re almost always full. So realistically, your options are either to sit on the curb while you enjoy your meal, or take it with you and find a better spot elsewhere.

So no, this isn’t the place to come for comfort or that cozy Danish Hygge vibe. You come here for the food—and it’s worth it.

Where is Comé RICE Kitchen in Copenhagen?

Comé RICE Kitchen is located in one of Copenhagen’s trendiest neighborhoods—Kødbyen—at number 44, just a short walk from the central train station (København H) and the city center.

Kødbyen is a former warehouse and industrial district that has been left mostly intact architecturally, but today, the old meat factories and storage spaces are home to restaurants, food stalls, and bars. In English, the area is often called the Meatpacking District, echoing New York’s famous neighborhood of the same name. Originally, from the 1800s on, this area was filled with slaughterhouses, butcher shops, and meat-processing plants—but today, you’d hardly know it.
